Christopher

Christopher completed a Bachelor of Arts in English and Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Calgary in 1998, and has over 13 years of experience in both industry and public practice. In his career in public practice, he has worked for firms ranging from a big four accounting firm to a small start-up practice. Prior to starting his own firm in 2009, he was a senior manager in assurance services at a large national firm.

Christopher provides a variety of services to small and medium-sized enterprises and not-for-profit organizations, including:

  • Corporate and personal income taxes

He enjoys gaining an in-depth understanding of clients’ businesses - beyond the accounting function - and believes this understanding leads to better client service. He follows a simple business model: “I aim to deliver services on time, on budget and at a high standard of quality.”

As a chartered accountant, Christopher is governed by Alberta’s Regulated Accounting Profession Act (RAPA), as well as the ICAA’s Rules of Professional Conduct. He always strives to operate at the highest level of professional standards.

Marcel Beaudoin, B.BA, CMA

Marcel

Marcel is a consultant, tax advisor and auditor for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as well as for non-for-profit organizations. With more than 20 years experience in accounting and 10 years in the brokerage and mutual fund industry, Marcel also works as an investment analyst and consultant in the private sector.

Marcel graduated from the University of Quebec in Montreal with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration and a Certificate in Advanced Accounting. He is a member in good standing of the Certified Management Accountants of Canada. Following successful completion of the In-depth Tax Course offered by the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants, Marcel has become an accomplished tax specialist. He is also an expert in software and management system implementation for SMEs.

Prior to creating AFISCOM, Marcel worked as an independent consultant for SMEs, and employed by companies such as Talvest, National Bank of Canada, General Trust, RBC Dominion securities, Cristini Canada and SCP-CA LLP.

Marcel’s ability to explain the technical jargon in simple terms has always been appreciated by his clients and brought him to present seminars and write articles on accounting, taxation, new technologies and management strategies. Because of this important work with the community, Marcel won the 2008 Social Entrepreneur of the Year Award sponsored by l’Association canadienne-française de l’Alberta.

Marcel will continue to provide consulting services on a part-time basis to C.L. Smith & Company.

Valérie Godin, CPB

Valerie

Valerie graduated from ITA St-Hyacinthe in Agricultural Business Management. Prior to joining AFISCOM, Valerie acquired four years experience in business administration and management and had become a talented accountant.

Member of the team since 2007, Valerie is responsible for managing the daily operations of the office and is the resource person to assist our clients with technical support. As a staff accountant, she provides personal income tax, year-end bookkeeping preparation and financial statement services.

Valerie’s business approach consists in taking the time to listen to her clients to ensure she entirely understands their situation. Her exceptional devotion to work and her analytical mind are very valuable to recommend adapted business solutions responding to her clients’ specific needs.

Valerie is a member of the Institute of Professional Bookkeepers of Canada. She is in the process of completing an Accounting Certificate of achievement at Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT).
